Ring-shaped components in a circular feeder bowl beneath a supply hopper.

Feeding technology · application engineered

Centrifugal feeders for high-flow component presentation.

Centrifugal component feeding systems for high-flow orientation of suitable caps, closures and robust moulded parts, with buffering and line integration.

Direct answer

What this system does.

A centrifugal feeder uses controlled rotary motion to separate and present suitable robust components at high flow. Its real value is sustained accepted output after orientation, buffering and rejects.

Where it can fit.

Selection starts with the component, accepted discharge condition and receiving process. This technology is commonly assessed for:

01

Caps, closures and regular moulded parts

02

Robust components tolerant of dynamic movement

03

Continuous-flow applications

04

High-demand lines with output buffering

Specify the complete path.

The sorter is only one stage. Bulk storage, metered replenishment, orientation, inspection, linear buffering, sensing and final release must work together under normal production conditions.

Performance evidence

Measure accepted output at the hand-off.

For a centrifugal route, compare sustained accepted output—not headline internal speed—using the trial and FAT checklist and the rate and buffer planner.

Trials should include representative variants, replenishment, recirculation and agreed intervention rules.

01

Define the component range

02

Agree orientation and datum

03

Set sustained rate and duration

04

Include the machine interface

Straight answers

Common component-feeding questions.

Final suitability and performance are confirmed against the actual part and agreed trial criteria.

When is a centrifugal feeder preferable to a vibratory bowl?+

It is often considered for robust, compatible components where high sustained flow and smooth rotary movement are priorities. A representative trial should decide the route rather than headline speed alone.

Can a centrifugal feeder handle fragile or cosmetic parts?+

Sometimes, but contact speed and recirculation must be assessed carefully. Delicate features or visible finishes may require controlled product depth, protective contact materials or a gentler feeding principle.

Does a centrifugal feeder need a buffer?+

Usually the complete line still benefits from controlled accumulation. Buffering separates short variations in feeder flow from the demand of the downstream machine and gives sensors time to manage start and stop commands.
